Uzo Onyekwelu, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC
Uzo is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She specializes in treating a wide variety of mental health disorders. She provides compassionate, and culturally sensitive care. Her style of practice incorporates psychopharmacology with lifestyle modifications (diet, exercise, etc.), talk therapy, supportive therapy, and medication management. She began her career as a registered nurse in family-centered care which increased her awareness of the needs of those afflicted with mental illnesses. Before obtaining her master’s degree from Walden University, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in nursing and Bachelor of Business Administration from St. Louis University and Houston Baptist University respectively. Uzo has over a decade of experience in patient care. She treats each client with dignity and respect and finds her work extremely rewarding. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, and traveling. Uzo has worked with clients in private practice, skilled nursing facilities, and law enforcement. Uzo has a supervising physician with tons of experience in mental health.
